In fact, in November 2009 Climate Change was given the same legal status as a religion in a court of law! See this external link.
Religions (as opposed to faith in Jesus Christ which is founded on facts) are often fanatically-held ideologies that have the power to steer a person's mind and actions, contrary to scientific fact or even common sense. For instance, Scientologists believe that souls ("thetans") reincarnate and have lived on other planets before living on Earth. Also, during Childbirth, the mother is ordered to be silent because it is believed that the noises evoke bad memories when the child gets older.
It's amazing what people will do when gripped by religious fervour - line up for days to look at a potato with the "face of Mary"; sell all their possessions and stand on the top of a mountain to await the return of christ; travel thousands of miles to bathe in a sacred spring, even commit suicide at the request of a cult leader who has convinced them they are going to be teleported to the mother ship!
But few people seem to have noticed the fanatical religious fervour of environmentalists, who defy all logic and fact to preach about the imminent doom of "mother earth" and our role in saving her.
Despite all evidence to the contrary, believers in this strange cult go on pronouncing that the "earth is growing warmer" and that "mankind is responsible" for it.
